Look just beneath the surface and you’ll discover the authentic Vietnam; a potpourri of beautiful landscapes and vibrant cities, striking coastlines, sandy beaches and welcoming locals. A Vietnam where ancient custom sits happily alongside the modern and where the street is still the heart of social life – colourful floating markets bobbing on the river, vendors selling local delicacies, the washing of laundry alongside the riverbank and market squares where gossip and tales are shared. Immerse yourself in the sights, sounds and smells of Vietnam.
Our journey takes us from Ho Chi Minh City in the south to Hanoi in the north. From Ho Chi Minh City with its beautiful French colonial buildings, we’ll explore the Cu Chi tunnels used during the Vietnam War by the Viet Cong. We’ll also travel the waterways of the Mekong Delta and visit a floating market and some island villages.
Da Lat, the former premier French Hill Station, is often called the City of Eternal Spring; from here we’ll ascend Lang Bian Mountain in the National Park. In Nha Trang we include a boat trip to one of the coastal islands for a relaxing day. Next stop is Hoi An, the first World Heritage area on our tour. Whilst there we also visit the UNESCO site
of My Son.
We travel over the breathtaking Hai Van Pass to the Imperial
City of Hue and take a trip on the Perfume River before continuing to the city of Hanoi where we have a full day sightseeing in the city. We move on to the attractive Mai Chau Valley to visit some of the local villages before moving on to Ninh Binh via Cuc Phuong National Park. Halong Bay is next, for an extensive cruise amongst the distinctive 3000 limestone islands and ‘stacks’ forming this quite remarkable scenic phenomenon. We then return to Hanoi for our last night.
