Cycling along the River Elbe

From Prague to Dresden.

Feel invigorated as the bike picks up pace. Hear the sounds of the river as you glide along, soaking up the fresh air and enjoying the freedom of travelling by bike. You are in safe hands with the local guide who leads the way. Your cycling route includes beautiful countryside, charming historical monuments, magnificent castles, palaces and wonderfully preserved historical old towns.

We are travelling the classic cycle route in Germany. The Germans know a thing or two about cycling and have designed and built some fine cycling routes, of which the Elbe path is an excellent example.

We cycle along the River Vltava to the Elbe River connecting two significant and cultural, historic cities. We take time to explore Prague before travelling through the rural landscapes of the Czech Republic to the quaint, historical towns in Germany, and finally to Dresden. You will cycle most days, travelling on to a new destination each day.

Our first two nights are spent in Prague then we stop each night in Melnik, Litomerice, Decin, Bad Schandau (Krippen) and finally in Dresden. Distances cycled in a day will vary from 21-55km. We’ll be cycling mainly on asphalted paths, and rarely on busy roads and usually on flat to low gradient terrain. Highlights along the way include the neat Elbe towns of Melnik and Litomerice and the bizarre rocky landscapes of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains to historical Dresden.
