A Taste of South Africa & Safari

An eclectic mix of the best from the southern tip of Africa

It is a lucky man that sees the table cloth laid out on the mountain. Legend has it the table cloth is a result of a smoking contest between the Devil and van Hunks, a local pirate. Whatever the truth, Table Mountain makes one of the most memorable backdrops to any city anywhere in the world.

Starting in Cape Town we will hike from Table Mountain’s famous 12 Apostles through Echo Valley to Maclear’s Beacon, its highest point. Another day we’ll walk around Cape Point, with views of the Cape Peninsula coast and Atlantic Ocean before enjoying a Cape Malay cooking safari in the evening. A visit to Robben Island allows us to explore the life of Nelson Mandela. Heading east we travel to Stellenbosch in the winelands where we’ll walk in the vineyards and taste some of the world-renowned wines.

Travelling to the Eastern Cape we head to Graaf Reinet in the Great Karoo. We walk in the Valley of Desolation. Returning to the Garden Route we head to the tranquil setting of the Hog Hollow Country Lodge on the Matjies River Gorge, where we will enjoy a hike in the Tsitsikamma National Park.

Continuing east we reach the private Kariega Game Reserve where we will enjoy game drives and bush walks. We will fly from Port Elizabeth to Johannesburg for an overnight, then another short flight to the Kruger. The world-renowned Kruger National Park offers a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa, home to the ‘big five’. We then fly back to Johannesburg for a final night before returning to the UK.
