A Danube Christmas Delight

Celebrate in Vienna and Budapest, two of the finest cities on the Danube...

Discover a festive Tale of Two Cities and explore the charms of Vienna and Budapest. Wrap up warm and breathe in the crisp, clean air on a stroll through cobbled courtyards and bustling Christmas markets. Surround yourself with the twinkling fairy lights and traditional decorations that adorn the elegant architecture of the cities. Explore a museum or two and follow the path of the Danube before the inviting smells of the numerous coffee houses tempt you in for a treat.

We begin the festivities in Vienna, Austria. The city is captivating; we’ll include the city’s circular central point, District 1, and stroll along Vienna’s main pedestrian street which leads to the Opera House at Karlsplatz. To enjoy Vienna in all its festive glory a visit to the magical Christmas markets is a must, and the most spectacular is located in front of the city hall, which we will visit after an enjoyable day exploring the city.

We continue by train to the Hungarian capital, Budapest, a wonderful city divided by the Danube, with historic Buda on the right bank and modern Pest on the left. Pest’s Inner City is the ideal place to start our sightseeing exploration and houses some of the city highlights, such as the Hungarian Parliament, Heroes Square and Andrassy Avenue. Buda is the former capital of the Kingdom of Hungary, and the Buda Royal Palace, still stands and is a spectacular building. Here we discover the Castle district and the beautiful Fishermen’s Bastion and Mátyás Church. And as the festive theme continues we will also take time to experience the Christmas markets including the traditional Christmas market on Vörösmarty Square in the heart of Pest.
